Nancy Smith Gantt, 70, of Morganton, passed away, Friday evening, May 19, 2023 at her home.Born in Polk County, she was the daughter of the late William Marion Smith and Barbara Shields Smith. Nancy was a graduate of Pleasant Gardens High School in Marion. She went on to work and retired from J. Iverson Riddle Institute in Morganton as an educator. Nancy was an avid Carolina Tarheel fan, Atlanta Braves fan and loved watching Perry Mason. The love of her life was her four grandchildren.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Anne Smith.Surviving are two daughters, Holly Coffey of Morganton and Katie McCurry (Patrick) of Morganton; two grandsons, Zach Coffey and Mason Coffey; two granddaughters, Abby McCurry and Lily McCurry.A private graveside service will be held.
