- Monie Horton Jackson, 92, of Mill Spring, NC died Monday, May 21, 2007 in St. Luke's Hospital, Columbus, NC. Born in Spartanburg County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Walter C. and Janie Pruitt Horton and widow of Volley Henry Jackson who died in 1986. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Mill Spring, NC. Surviving are two sons, Rev. Jerry Jackson of Mill Spring, NC and Stanley Jackson of Rutherfordton, NC; three daughters, Dorothy Emery of Bellevue, OH, Lois V. Searcy and Vivian J. Searcy both of Mill Spring, NC; four brothers, Harley Horton of Boiling Springs, SC, John Horton of Landrum, SC, Dean Horton of Tryon, NC and Joe Horton of Anderson, SC; one sister, Lucille Durham of Tryon, NC. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by a daughter, Noel Sternburg who died in 1999. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2007 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC with Rev. Lewis Jackson and Rev. Jerry Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.
