—Miriam "Mitzi" Dimpsey Lindsey, 76, of Columbus, NC passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in Spartanburg, SC.Mitzi was the daughter of the late Frank James and Miriam Sloan Dimpsey. Mitzi grew up in Kirtland, Ohio and moved to Columbus, NC in 1962. Mitzi was an avid horse rider and worked as the Executive Director for the Tryon Ride and Hunt Club for 38 years. Her work was instrumental in organizing the annual Block House Steeplechase. Mitzi was active in the community, including being a member of the Green Creek Hounds and a past member of the Rotary Club. Mitzi was a very giving person and often too generous for her own fault, which included giving away her own oven, that is why she could be frequently seen eating at Waffle House and at McGourty's Pub on trivia night.In addition to her parents, Mitzi was preceded in death by a brother, Todd Dimpsey.Surviving are a daughter, Laura Weicker (Jim) of Columbus, NC; a son, David Lindsey (Stephanie) of Mount Vernon, NH; four grandchildren, Dylan, Kate, Garrett, and Connor; a brother Robert Dimpsey of Illinois and a sister, Joan Heart of Ohio. Also surviving is her ex-husband Fred Lindsey (Susie) of Columbus, NC.A celebration of life will be held in the spring.Memorials may be made to Foothills Humane Society, P.O.
