Tryon, NC -- Mildred L. Rippy, 89, of Rippy Hill, Tryon, NC, died Monday, September 11, 2006 in Laurelhurst in Columbus, NC.Born in Polk County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Thomas A. and Mattie Jones Rippy. She was a graduate of Tryon High School and attended Mars Hill College. Miss Rippy was an office manager at Adams-Millis Corp, Southern Woven Label and personal accountant for the late Sarah Darnall and later William Crapo. She was a member of Pacolet Baptist Church in Lynn, NC.Surviving is one adopted daughter, Mildred "Mickie"Rippy Peterson and her husband Terry of Macon, GA. One granddaughter, Stephanie Peterson Marshall and her husband Scott of Birmingham, AL. Two great-grandsons, Aaron & John Michael Marshall of Birmingham, AL. Nephews, Garland O. Goodwin of Columbus, NC, Douglas V. Rippy of Columbus, OH, Bryant H. Harrill of Bennettsville, SC, and Thomas E. Rippy, Jr. of Zebulon, NC. Nieces, Sylvia Gaines Becknell of Landrum, SC, Melinda Gaines McKeown of York, SC, Ann Harrill Woolf of Charlotte, NC, and Janice Rippy Breedlove of Candler, NC. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 15, 2006 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel in Tryon, NC.Burial will be in Tryon City Cemetery.The family will receive friends prior to the memorial service Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 130 Forest Glen Dr., Columbus, NC 28722.
