Tryon, NC- Mildred Dorn Bodie, 95, of Tryon, NC passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, NC.Born in Saluda, SC, she was the daughter of the late Elisha Stevens and Mattie Able Dorn; and wife of the late James William Bodie who passed away in 2015.  Mr. and Mrs. Bodie moved to Tryon, NC in 1965 and purchased the Western Auto in Tryon.  Together, they operated the store until their retirement in 1990.  Mrs. Bodie loved music and was a talented pianist.  She and her husband were members of Woodmen of the World.  Mrs. Bodie was a member of Tryon First Baptist church for over 50 years. Surviving is, one son, James William Bodie, Jr. (Sandy) of Winston-Salem, NC; one daughter, Betty Jean Durham (Roger) of Tryon, NC; three grandchildren, Andrew Durham (Martha) of Mullica Hill, NJ, Andrea Lay (Justin) of Columbus, NC and Karen Hawkins (Dakota) of Raleigh, NC and seven great-grandchildren, Sean, Brian, Natalie, Finley, Virginia, Katherine and Elizabeth.The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. on Sunday, September 4, 2022 at McFarland Funeral Chapel in Tryon, NC.Graveside services will be held following the visitation, at 2:00 p.m. At Polk Memorial Gardens in Columbus, NC with Dr. Jeff Harris officiating.Memorials may be made to Tryon First Baptist, Visitation Committee, PO Box 1287, Tryon, NC 28782.The family will be at the home of Mrs. Bodie following the service.
