Tryon, NC – Mary Alewine Wall, of Jericho Drive, Tryon, NC died Saturday March 8, 2014 in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, Spartanburg, SC. Born in Polk County, NC she was the daughter of the late Richard E. Sr. and Dora Burrell Alewine. She was the widow of Calvin Wall who died in 1974. For many years Mary was an employee of Fashion 200, Tryon, NC. A past member of Tryon Country Club and Red Fox Country Club she was an avid golfer. Mary was a member of Tryon First Baptist Church. Surviving are: a son, Dennis Wall of Tryon, NC; a daughter, Janet Wall Ryan of Candler, NC; three sisters, Polly Plumley of Wellford, SC; Gertrude Westmoreland (Boyce) of Inman, SC, and Joyce Hyder of Landrum, SC; a brother, Richard Alewine, Jr. of Columbus, NC. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Justin Ryan and Sarah Peppers. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 22, 2014, in Tryon First Baptist Church.Memorials may be made to the Foothills Humane Society, 989 Little Mountain Road, Columbus, NC 28722.
