Columbus, NC - Mary R. Pattie Trucks, 91, of Columbus, NC, died Saturday, April 7, 2007 in St. Luke's Hospital in Columbus, NC.Born in Roscommon, MI, she was the daughter of the late Donald David and Elizabeth Woodruff Pattie who were founders of the Pattie Building in Columbus, NC. She moved to Polk County in 1923 and graduated from Stearns High School. She returned to Michigan in 1931 where she received her pharmacy degree. She and her husband Ken owned and operated Pattie Drug in Baldwin, MI for 41 years. They retired to Columbus in 1981.Mrs. Trucks was a past member of the Baldwin School Board in Baldwin, MI. She was a member of the Eastern Star, the Weaving Guild, and served on the Regional Health Care and also the Mental Health Care Boards in Baldwin, MI. She volunteered with Polk County Library, Meals on Wheels, and served on the Polk County Board of Elections. She was the widow of Kenneth O. Trucks who died in 1983. Mrs. Trucks was a member of Columbus Presbyterian Church.Surviving are 3 daughters, Elizabeth Ellen Trucks of Grand Rapids, MI, Alecia Trucks-DeCou (Dan)of Chase, MI, and Tennis Pattie Trucks (Dennis Flory) of Baldwin, MI. Two sons, David Kenneth Trucks (Cindy) of Reed City, MI, and Trent Trucks (Pax) of Charlotte, NC. One brother, Donald A. Pattie (Marguerite) of Zephyrhills, FL. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 6 plus great grandchildren. and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 11, 2007 in the Columbus Presbyterian Church, Columbus, NC with Rev. Buren Blankenship officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel in Tryon, NC.Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens in Columbus, NC.Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 130 Forest Glen Drive, Columbus, NC 28722, Columbus Presbyterian Church, 21 Peniel Rd., Columbus, NC 28722 or to the Lake County Community Foundation, P.O. Box 995, Baldwin, MI 49304.
