COLUMBUS, NC -- Mary Douglas Stephenson, 87, of Columbus, NC died Sunday, February 28, 2010 in St. Luke's Hospital in Columbus, NC.Born in Detroit, MI, she was the daughter of Stratford Bradish and Ellen Riggs Douglas. She was a veteran of the US Navy having served during WW II in the WAVES. Mrs. Stephenson was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross. She loved the outdoors and had a great sense of adventure.Surviving is her husband, John A. Stephenson; one daughter, Ellen Thomas of Tryon, NC; one granddaughter Katy Walters of Lakeland, FL; one grandson, David Stone of Virginia, MN; one great- granddaughter, Emma Walters. Also surviving are four step-children, Sarah Jusko of Snohomish, WA, Lucy Stephenson of Tryon, NC, Alec Stephenson of Ferron, UT and Suzanne Stephenson of Salt Lake City, UT and 9 step-grandchildren and 8 step great-grandchildren.A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, March 6, 2010 in the Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross with Father Michael Doty officiating.Memorials may be made to The Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross, P.
