Campobello, SC - Alma H. Sherer, 89, of Campobello, SC passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013, in the Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills, Landrum, SC. Born on November 11, 1923 in Avery County, NC; she was the daughter of the late Roby and Missouri "Dolly" Beard Hodges. A seamstress during her working life, she moved to Campobello from Charlotte, NC in 1979. She ran an in-home daycare for neighborhood children in Charlotte, NC. Mrs. Sherer was a member of Tryon Seventh Day Adventist Church for 34 years.She was a loving wife to her husband of 70 years, Paul Sherer; a caring and devoted mother to her two children; a daughter, Elaine Vieira (Paul) of Nashville, TN; a son, Chuck Sherer (Jan) of Orlando, FL; two grandchildren, Paula Kaye Walters (Chad) and Jessica Sherer; as well as one great-grandson, Porter Walters. Also surviving are three sisters: Lena Owen, Wanda Hindman (Charles), and Joanne Garland (Charlie), all of Banner Elk, NC; a nephew, Lester (Becky) Hodges of Hendersonville, NC, and many other special nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. November 2, 2013 in the Tryon Seventh-day Adventist Church with Pastor Arthur Gibbs officiating.Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Tryon Seventh Day Adventist Church, 2820 Lynn Rd.
