SALUDA –
Mary Elizabeth Arvalee Pace Kimzey, 92, of the Fork Creek Community of Saluda, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday morning, October 31, 2024.
Born in Polk County, she was the daughter of the late Monroe Pace and Ada Metcalf Pace and wife of the late William Basil Kimzey, Sr., who passed away in 1991. She was a graduate of Saluda High School. After graduation, she went on to enlist in the United States Navy. After her service in the Navy, she began working at Cranston Printworks in Fletcher and met her husband. Later she earned her C.N.A degree and started at Pardee Hospital and retired after almost 30 years of service. She was an avid gardener. She was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Virgil Pace, Nathan "Junior" Pace and Ralph Pace.
Surviving are two sons, William "Bill" Kimzey, Jr. of Saluda and Timothy "Tim" Kimzey of Spartanburg; one daughter, Mary Beth Kimzey of Saluda; one sister, Zennie Cox of Greenville; three grandchildren, David Vaughn, III (Jaymee), Ashley Sutton and Cory Sutton (Kaelyn). Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 5, 2024, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.
A funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral chapel with Reverend Curtis Dubreuil officiating.
Burial will follow in Mountain Page Baptist Church Cemetery in Saluda.
