Mary Jean Menges, age 85, of Columbus, North Carolina, and formerly of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, May 22, 2025, at LaurelWoods in Columbus.
Born in San Angelo, Texas, Mary Jean was the daughter of the late Gerhard Rollwitz and Marcella Jurek Rollwitz. She was also the devoted wife of the late Deacon George B. Menges, with whom she will be laid to rest in Slidell.
Mary Jean was a woman of deep faith, love, and dedication to her family. Her warmth and kindness were felt by all who knew her, and her legacy will live on through the many lives she touched.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Ned Gerard of Landrum, South Carolina; and her son and daughter-in-law, Robert Menges and Jill Patt of Mesa, Arizona. Also surviving are her sister, Helen Piñon and husband Danny; niece Erika Raines; nephew Devon Williams (Angela); great-niece Jasmine Raines; and Josie Shepard. Mary Jean was a proud and loving grandmother to Vivica Nogueira, Jolie Nogueira, Angelica Menges, Erika Rudiger, and Elena Rudiger.
A Memorial Mass will be held at
St. Genevieve Catholic Church
in Slidell, Louisiana, on May 31
st
. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at
Forest Lawn Cemetery (Honaker)
immediately following the service. Family and friends are invited to a luncheon and reception at
St. Genevieve Hall
from 12:45 to 2:00 p.m.
