Columbus, NC - Marion Fischer, 89, of Tryon Estates, Columbus, NC passed away Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007 in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, Spartanburg, SC. A native of Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Marion and LeRoy Thomas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, John A. Fischer. She was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and had worked as a librarian in Ohio public schools. She and her late husband retired to Columbus in l979. Mrs. Fischer volunteered at the Polk County Library and was a member of the Tryon Presbyterian Church where she served as the church librarian. She was the loving mother of two sons: John T. Fischer of Columbus, NC and James W. Fischer of Santa Barbara, CA. Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. in the Tryon Estates Auditorium Friday, March 2, 2007 with Dr. David Hosick and Rev. Ralph Kuether officiating. Memorials may be made to the Tryon Presbyterian Church Development Fund, 430 Harmon Field Road, Tryon, NC 28782.
