Obituary

—Dr. Marian Bosien, 96, passed away on October 11th, 2018.Born on May 26, 1922 in Annville Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Violet Kreider. She graduated from Lebanon Valley College in 1944 and from University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1948. After her internship at St Luke's Hospital in Cleveland Ohio, she completed her residency in Anesthesiology at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Lebanon New Hampshire. She served on faculty of Dartmouth Medical School and married her classmate Dr. William Riley Bosien in 1952. In 1954, they moved to Tryon NC where they began their medical practice and established Tryon Medical Associates to meet the health care need of Polk County. Marian practiced Anesthesiology until retirement in 1986. Through The years she has been active in the Congregational Church of Tryon 1954-present, Hospice, Habitat, Thermal Belt Outreach, American Association of University Women and other local community services. She also served on the St. Luke's Hospital Governing Board of Trustees from 1984-1992. She was awarded membership into the Second Wind Hall of Fame in 2012 for her services to the community.Surviving are three children Cynthia Ellen Bosien in Mill Spring NC, William Mark Bosien in Washington DC, and Timothy Jefferson Bosien in Tryon NC and four grandchildren, Jason M. Jackman, Jennifer M. Torgerson, Cassiopeia G. Smith and Laura R. Smith and two Great Grandchildren, Chastan Jackman and Elijah Thompson. Also, surviving is a sister Jane Williams in Cleveland Ohio.She was a pillar in the community and a beloved Mother, Grandma and Great Grandma to her family.A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at the Congregational Church of Tryon, NC with Rev. Meghan Young officiating.
