Margie Staton Smith, 89, of the Fork Creek Community of Saluda, went home to be with the Lord, Friday morning, December 12, 2025, at the Elizabeth House.
Born in Greenville County, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Bunyan Staton and Gladys Morgan Staton. Margie was a Saluda High School graduate and went on to work for General Electric in East Flat Rock until her retirement. She was a member of Mountain Page Baptist Church in Saluda. The joy of her life was her grandbabies and great grandbabies.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Dencil Staton; three sisters, Arva Lee Thomas, Majorie “Jo” Gosnell and Armintie Coggins.
Surviving is her husband of 70 years, Tommy Smith; one daughter, Debbie Guice of Saluda; two sons, Randy Smith of Saluda and Roger Smith of Shelby; one brother, David Staton of Georgia; one sister, Della Stafford of Iron Station; eleven grandbabies and twenty-four great grandbabies. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 14, 2025, in Mountain Page Baptist Church Cemetery in Saluda with Reverend Billy Jarvis officiating.
Memorials may be made to Four Seasons Hospice.
