Margaret Tomlin Byers, 82, of Green Creek, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday afternoon, January 25, 2022 at the Upstate Community Hospice House.Born in Amherst, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late John Smiley Tomlin and Mary Edna Tomlin and wife of the late Reverend Earl Byers who passed away in 2019.  Mrs. Byers served as a Pastor's Wife for many years. She and her husband first served at Oronoco Church of the Brethren in Vesuvius, VA before moving to the Chase, NC area in 1987.  They then served at Melvin Hill Church of the Brethren for 25 years until his retirement in 2012. Her Fruit of the Spirit was serving people by cooking and sewing for her church family. She was a member of Melvin Hill Church.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Kelly Tomlin, Jimmy Tomlin and Phinia Tomlin.Surviving is one daughter, Lisa Cash (Chip) of Green Creek; two grandchildren, Lucas Cash (Sydney) and Ellese Curry (Skyler); four great grandchildren, Carter, Jaxon, Charleigh, and Kennedy; four sisters, Goldie Byers, Barbara Wheeler, Brenda Lewis and Betty Wise; three brothers, Larry Tomlin, Robert Tomlin and Lewis Tomlin.Memorials may be made to Melvin Hill Church, 525 Melvin Hill Road, Columbus, North Carolina 28722.
