GREEN CREEK – Margaret Riddle Blackwell, 90, of Green Creek, passed away Sunday morning, September 6, 2026, at White Oak Manor of Tryon.

Born in Burke County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Earl Riddle and Edith Allen Riddle. Mrs. Blackwell was a Licensed Practical Nurse for many years, caring for others with compassion, kindness, and dedication in doctors’ offices, assisted living facilities, and through private-duty home care. She was a member of Mill Creek Church in Green Creek.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, Tommy, Billy, and Jimmy, as well as members of the family who opened their home to her as a child. She was most recently preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Everette “Butch” Blackwell, who passed away in 2022.

Surviving are her two sons, Tony Blackwell of Green Creek and Terry Blackwell (Lori) of Worcester, Mass.; grandchildren Taylor (Loretta) Blackwell and Rebecca (William) Loubier; great-granddaughter Amelia; and one brother, Carroll Riddle (Joyce) of Green Creek.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 14, at Mill Creek Church in Green Creek, with Reverend Andy Parker officiating.

An avid animal lover, Margaret found great joy in the companionship of animals. In her memory, memorial donations may be made to the local Humane Society.
