Obituary

Madeline Cooper stepped into eternity on Sunday, February 16 th , 2025 at the age of 86 years old. She was born on May 13 th , 1938 in Floral, Arkansas in Independence County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Mae Baker, her brother Augustine, sisters Ernestine, Hettivee, and Lula Bell, her first husband Lenoard Chenowith, her daughter Phyllis Chenowith, and her second husband Billy K. Cooper.

She is survived by her son, Lon Chenowith, daughter-in-law Kay Chenowith, three grandchildren Malachi Chenowith, Nathanael Chenowith, Karis Chenowith, and five great grandsons: Isaiah Chenowith, Isaac Chenowith, Gabriel Chenowith, Caleb Chenowith, Lucas Chenowith, and two great granddaughters: Emily Chenowith and Liliana Chenowith, plus one great grandchild on the way in June 2025.

Madeline graduated from Capital City Business College in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1957. She worked as an accountant and later had a home-based business called Madeline's Flowers and Accents. She loved to do crafts, ceramics, paint, play bridge and canasta, and worked in outreach for the churches she served in though the years. Her priority and primary role was as a homemaker for her family.

Mrs. Cooper was a devoted single mother at one time before and after her first husband died, working three jobs at one time. She was a lifetime tither out of her income to the church that she served. Madeline had an iron grip and was known to be a scrapper in younger years. She could outride a lot of her nephews on horseback. Though she was raised a farm girl in North Arkansas, she was not fond of the outdoors in later life, but she did love plants and flowers.

She will be sorely missed! "For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death" (Psalm 48:14). "The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands" (Psalm 138:8). "But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him" (1 Corinthians 2:9).
