COLUMBUS, N.C. - Louise E. Martin of Columbus, N.C. passed away, Wednesday morning, March 30, 2011 in Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills, Landrum, S.C.Born in Jacksonville, IL, she was the wife of the late John C. Martin who died in 1998. The Martin's lived and raised a family in Springfield Illinois. She retired from State of Illinois Personnel Department. John and Louise retired to the Columbus area in 1990. Mrs. Martin was a member of the American Association of University Women, American Contract Bridge League and the Congregational Church of Christ in Tryon, N.C.Surviving is one son, David Martin of Birmingham, AL; one daughter, Christine Dory of Atlanta, GA. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren, Mary Dory, Sarah Martin, and Rachel Martin.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2011 in the Congregational Church of Christ, Tryon, N.C. with Dr. Robert Barrows officiating.Memorials may be made to St. Luke's Hospital Foundation, 101 Hospital Dr. Columbus, NC 28722; or Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 130 Forest Glen Dr. Columbus, NC 28722.
