Lake Lure, NC-Lorraine Nelon, 71, went home to her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 12, 2025.

Lorraine was the daughter of the late John Jackson Joy Sr. and Mable Bobblets Joy. She grew up in Leonard Town, Maryland and moved to Lake Lure with her husband as a young adult. Lorraine was a loving mother and "Mamaw" to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to take care of others and spent many years serving others by being a caregiver. One of her favorite activities was attending the Meeting Place in Columbus where she enjoyed BINGO and arts and crafts. Above all, Lorraine was a child of Christ and loved serving the Lord through mission work.  She was a member of Cane Creek Baptist Church in Lake Lure, NC.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Nelon; a brother, Richard Meeks; two sisters, Linda Poisson and Sharon Meeks and her fur baby, Perooney.

Surviving are her children, Tina Peace (Vernon) of Landrum, SC, Keith Nelon (Dixie) Boiling Springs, NC, Faith Smith (James) Tryon, NC and Roxanne Fenten (Joe) Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Brandon, Levi, Shelby, Amara, Waylon, Hazel, Paisley, Briar, Piper, Lincoln, Paxlei, Phoenix, Natalie, Tyler, Samantha, Tripp, and Brayden; seven great grandboys and three great grand-girls; brothers, John Jackson Joy Jr., Edward Joy, William Joy and a sister, Tammy Hardesty.  Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, April 18, 2025 at Cane Creek Baptist Church in Lake Lure, NC with Reverend Ansel Pace and Reverend Paul Nelon officiating.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 am to 11:50 am.

Burial will be in the church cemetery following the service.
