Lois Johnson Ross, 104, of Saluda, North Carolina, died Saturday, August 30, 2025.
Born and raised in Saluda, she was the daughter of the late Joseph I. Johnson and Elzie Gosnell Johnson. She was a graduate of Saluda High School.
Lois moved to Maryland during WWII to work in the shipyard. At the end of the war, she married Lee Ray Ross and started a family in Saluda. She later worked for General Electric for over 20 years.
Lois will be remembered for her love of family, friends and daily enjoyment of life. She had an endless amount of energy and was always helping her family and others. To some in the family, she was known as the "Energizer Bunny". She loved playing basketball in high school, watching sports and was always ready for the opportunity to be on the dance floor. Lois was a long-time member of Saluda United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Ray Ross and six brothers and sisters.
Lois is survived by her to sons, Robert Ray Ross and wife, Patricia, and Gary Dean (Dusty) Ross and wife, Julie. She was affectionately known as "Good Mama" to her grandchildren, Andrew Ross, Kristie Bryson, Evan Ramey and Leigh Ross, as well as three great-grandchildren, Jordan Ross, Chase Bryson and John Bryson. Her extended family includes many nieces and nephews.
The family will have a private memorial service, and she will be laid to rest beside her husband at Saluda City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Saluda Methodist Church in her memory.
