Mill Spring, NC- Linda Kay Padgett, 77, passed away surrounded by family on Friday, September 25, 2026.

Linda was the daughter of the late Furman and Muriel King Forrester. Linda was a very talented Draftsman, she was the owner of Padgett Drafting and Blueprinting in Landrum. She created blueprints and designed many homes in the local area. She always enjoyed music, growing up she was in the Landrum Marching Band and later in the Band of Gold. In her younger years, she was a member of Landrum First Baptist Church and later became a member of Faith Baptist Church in Mill Spring. She served the church in many capacities over the years including working with the children, teaching Sunday School and serving as treasure.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Audrey Martin and Hazel Newman.

Surviving is her husband of 57 years, Gerald Ray Padgett; two sons, Gerald Ray Jr. (Myra) of Landrum, SC, Steven Ray Pagett, of Drayton, SC; three grandchildren, Averée Morse (Nicholas), Hadyn Padgett (Cassidy) and Kenslée Johnson (Patrick) and four great grandchildren, Emerson Morse, Ellis Morse, Julianne “Rosie” Padgett, and Laura Johnson, a brother, Furman Forrester (Pat); two nephews, Derrick Forrester and Brad Forrester and her sisters and brother in- law, Ann Franks, Bobby and Penny Silvers, and Cleo Haley. Also surviving are many cousins, extended family and close friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2026 at Faith Baptist Church in Mill Spring, NC officiated by Reverend Lynn Stewart and Reverend Paul White.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.

Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
