Obituary
Tryon, NC—Linda Chastain Ligon, 87, of Tryon, NC passed away Thursday, August 15, 2024 in Hopkins, SC. She was born in Cherryville, NC on May 9, 1937, the daughter of the late Loren Chastain and Louis White Chastain. She graduated from High Point College in High Point, NC and taught home economics at Polk Central High School until her retirement. She was a longtime member of Tryon First Baptist Church in Tryon, NC.
She is survived by daughters, Mandy Ligon of Tryon, and Julie Ligon Seigler (John) of Hopkins, SC. She is also survived by her good friend, Charles Stafford of Tryon. She is predeceased by her loving husband of many years, Elwood "Cotton" Ligon of Tryon, and two sisters, Lelia Brigham (John) of Henderson, NC and Gale Morgan of Birmingham, AL.
Over the years she enjoyed gardening, crafting porcelain dolls, and playing bridge with friends. She received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and enjoyed her church community.
A graveside celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 11:00 am in Polk Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tryon First Baptist Church in Tryon, NC.
