- Linda Thompson Gillie, 77, of Columbus, NC passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Autumn Care in Saluda, NC.Linda was the daughter of the late Calvin Howard and Thelma Bradshaw Thompson. She was a graduate of Tryon High School. Linda was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, camping trips, playing golf and cheering on the Atlanta Braves. Linda enjoyed helping others, she was a past volunteer at the Meeting Place and Polk County Meals on Wheels. She was a past member of Links of Tryon Country Club and a long-time member of Mill Spring First Baptist Church.Linda was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-two years Irvin Ray Gillie, and a brother, Gary Thompson.Surviving is a daughter, Sharon Green of Columbus, NC; two sons, Chris Gillie (Kristy) of Landrum, SC and Craig Gillie (Kathryn) of Tryon, NC. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Derrick Lynch, William Green, Colin, Christian and Carson Gillie.A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Mill Spring First Baptist Church in Mill Spring, NC with Rev. David Bame officiating.The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.Interment will follow in Mill Spring First Baptist Church Cemetery.
