Leroy Waldrop, 78, of Green Creek, passed away unexpectedly Sunday evening, November 27, 2022 at his home.Born in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Doyle and Jackie Guy Waldrop. Mr. Waldrop in his early years did automotive body work for several dealerships in the area. Later he and his wife Vicki owned and operated three convenience stores in the Polk County area. When he had time away from work, he enjoyed fishing, guns and hunting. Mr. Waldrop was a member of Melvin Hill Church. Also, he was a Mason and Shriner.Surviving is his wife of 50 years, Vicki Pearson Waldrop; one son, David Waldrop (Holly) of Rutherfordton; one daughter, Samantha Phillips (Robert) of Chesnee; one half-sister, Kathy Lawson (Randy) of Spartanburg County; four grandchildren, Robert Waldrop, Katie Phillips, Madison Hill (Nathan) and Victoria Phillips.A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 30, 2022 in Melvin Hill Church Cemetery with Reverend Craig Scruggs officiating.The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
