Leon Donald Smith, age 78 of Campobello, SC passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 29th, 2020. Born in Greenville Co, SC. Leon Smith was the son of the late Thomas Earl and Louise Smith of Tryon. He was a loom fixer for many years at JB Stevens Textile in Greer until the closing in 2001 and later retired from Hayssen in Duncan, SC. He was a Baptist by faith.He enjoyed working outside in the yard, going camping and loved spending time with his family and extended family. His most treasured moments was spending time with his new great grandchild Amelia Burns. She was his special little "peanut".Leon Smith is preceded in death by his brother Earl Eugene "Gene" Smith, Anna Lee Smith Fortner, and JoAnn Smith Cochran, with one surviving bother.Surviving is one daughter, Debbie Smith Brown (Tim) of Landrum, SC and their children Corrie Brown Burns (Justin & Amelia) of Landrum, SC, and Chris Brown (Stephanie) of Moore, SC; two sons, Michael Smith (April) of Campobello, SC their children Cody and Cheyane Smith of the home; Donnie Smith (Janet) of Campobello, SC, and their children Matt Smith (Morgan M.) and Morgan Smith of Boiling Springs, SC.Also surviving is Leon's girlfriend Joyce Sawyer and her family.A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Landrum, SC on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Chris Osborn officiating.The family will be at the home. Because of social distancing we ask they everyone to please wear a mask when they visit.
