LEO G. WILLETTE TRYON, NC - Leo G. Willette, died Sunday, July 30, 2006 after a long illness. He was 78 years old, born November 11, 1927. Mr. Willette served in the U. S. Navy during WWII for three years. After graduating from the University of Alabama he was a reporter and feature writer for the Birmingham News and later was TV News Director for WBRC-TV in Birmingham, News Director of WLOS-TV, Ashevile, NC and News Director of WWL-TV in New Orleans. Mr. Willette was a Published author of "How To Prepare and Shoot News Film for TV" and "So You Want To Shoot News film." He retired from Radio & Television Office of Public Affairs with the National Parks Service. Survived by wife of 59 years, Hannah Elizabeth Willette; a son, Leo James Willette, two daughters; Linda Cecile Cuthbert and husband David and Rebecca Dienne Robins and husband Jim and brother Robert Willette. Grandchildren include Christopher Cuthbert, Liza Copping, Asher Cuthbert and Joshua Cuthbert. Dylan and Bryant Robins. Great-grandchildren Annabel Copping, Robyn and Matthew Cuthbert. Tegan, James and Christopher Cuthbert. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. Friday, August 4, 2006 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.
