—Lawrence Gray Newman, 92, of Lynn went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 17, 2022.Born in Polk County, NC, he was the son of the late Columbus Christopher and Maude Constance Newman.  Lawrence enjoyed nature, he found joy gardening and working in his yard.  He was a member of Midway Baptist Church in Columbus, NC.  Above all else, Lawrence loved the Lord and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.In addition to his parents, Lawrence was preceded in death by a son, Jason Newman; a grandson, Daniel Foster; a great grandson, Toby Jesperson; a son-in-law, David Satterfield; and seven brothers.Surviving is his wife, Edna Lorie Newman; three sons, John Newman (Joyce), James Newman (Deborah) and Herschel Newman (Susan); three daughters, Jane Foster (Joe), Jenelle Satterfield and Brenda Covil (Mark); fifteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and many precious nieces and nephews.A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Midway Baptist Church in Columbus, NC with Rev. Lloyd Howard and Mr. William Mills officiating.Burial will be private.Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, P.O. Box 336 Forest City, NC 28043.
