Columbus, N.C. - Laura Elizabeth Weigt, 94, of Skyuka Road, Columbus, NC died Saturday, October ll, 2008 at her home surrounded by loving family. Born in Detroit, MI, she was the daughter of the late Gustave Fuhrman and Elizabeth Mueller Fuhrman. Laura belonged to the Tryon Painters & Sculptors, was an amateur astrologer for 50 years, winner of awards in oil paintings, sculptures, gems, was an artist and gemologist. She is survived by: two sons, Earl Weigt (Frances) of Lima, OH and Harley Weigt (Dorothy) of Stuart, FL; six grandchildren, Lee (Anne) of Edgewater, MD; Laurie (Don) of Lima, OH; Larry of Vaughnsville, OH; Lorne (Michelle) of Columbus, OH; PennySue (Steve) of Lake worth, FL and Ralph of Marengo, IL and special friends Valerie and Doug Thompson of Tryon, NC . Also surviving are 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great step-grandchild and 6 great-great step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 2 brothers; Ruth, Lucille, Harold and Norman.
