Obituary

Tryon, NC - Laura Crump Bradshaw, 80, of Gillete Woods, Tryon, NC died Monday, January 29, 2007 in St. Luke's Hospital in Columbus, NC. Born in Boston, MA, she was the daughter of the late James G. and Emma Brown Crump. She was the widow of Dr. John S. Bradshaw who died in 1979. Mrs. Bradshaw graduated from Oberlin College, Oberlin OH with a major in psychology. She moved to Polk County, NC in 1960 from Cleveland, OH. She was a member of the Tryon Garden Club. She volunteered with the Girl Scouts, League of Women Voters, Red Cross, and the Tryon Riding and Hunt Club, where she and her husband hosted the Block House Steeplechase for several years. Always very proud of her family, she is survived by two sons, Dr. Peter Bradshaw (Ellie) of Hickory, NC and John Bradshaw (Irene) of Glenview, IL; three daughters Pamela Khalidi (Ramsey) of Savannah, GA, Jill Mize (Johnny) of Green Creek, NC, and Priscilla Boyd (Bob) of Starkville, MS; two brothers, James G. Crump (Jan) of Destin, FL and Tom Crump of Portland, ME. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, Katie, Andy, and Michael Bradshaw, Joan and Theodore Bradshaw, Laura and Leila Khalidi, Jack, Jim, and Alex Mize. She was preceded in death by a brother, John S. Crump. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, February 2, 2007 in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus, NC with Rev. Robert Barrows officiating. Memorials may be made to the Tryon Riding and Hunt Club, P. O. Box 1095, Tryon, NC 28782.
