MILL SPRING, NC -- Kevin R. Nelon, 36, of Nelon Lane, Mill Spring, NC, died Thursday, January 4, 2007 in St. Luke's Hospital in Columbus, NC. Born in Rutherford County, NC, he was the son of Catherine Odom Nelon of Mill Spring, NC, and the late John Harle Nelon, Jr. Kevin worked for a short time at Hatch Mill in Columbus, NC. He was a loyal husband and father.Surviving in addition to his mother is wife, Kelly Pittman Nelon of the home. One son, Wilkey Nelon of the home; one daughter, Miranda Nelon of the home. Three brothers, John Nelon, III, Flint Nelon, and Randy Nelon of Mill Spring, NC. One sister, Marlene McDowell of Mill Spring, NC. One step-sister, Tera Nelon of Ft. Hood, TX. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 7, 2007 in Cane Creek Baptist Church in Lake Lure, NC with Rev. Danny Siegfried and Rev. Blaine Jones officiating.Burial will be in Cane Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service in Cane Creek Baptist Church on Sunday.The family will be at the home of his mother, Catherine Odom Nelon, 228 Nelon Lane, Mill Spring, NC.
