MILL SPRING, NC - Kevin Ray Blackwell, 53, of Mill Spring, NC passed away Friday morning, December 31, 2010 at his home.Born in Tryon, NC, he was the son of the late David Ray Blackwell and Edna Elizabeth Watkins Blackwell. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Blackwell was a construction worker and was nicknamed "Polyester".Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Robin Sain Blackwell of the home; one daughter, Brandie Prince of Mill Spring, NC; two brothers, David Blackwell of Seneca, SC and Sam Blackwell (Lou Ann) of Mill Spring, NC; one sister, Cathy Wing of Mill Spring, NC. Also surviving is one grandson, Dylan Prince.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 3, 2011 in the Silver Creek Baptist Church, Mill Spring, NC with Dr. Chris Osborn officiating.Burial will be in the church cemetery.The family will receive friends prior to the service Monday from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the church.
