Kenneth Hamrick Carter, 58 of Matthews, died at home on Saturday, October 3, 2015.He is the son of Sally Jo and the late Hubert Earl Carter. He is survived by his wife Dru Hood Carter, his daughters Meg Carter Blue (husband Michael) of Hickory, and Kate Carter of Matthews. He was preceded in death by his sister Catherine Hollis Carter. He is also survived by his brothers William Carter of Asheville and Robert Carter (wife Margot) of Tryon, his nephew Walter of Charlotte, niece Rollins and nephew Lawson of Tryon.He was a graduate of Tryon High School, class of 1975. He is a graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne University where he was on the golf team. He retired from Windstream Communications.A graveside service will be held at Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus, NC on Tuesday, October 6th at 2:00 PM.Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:30-1:30 at McFarland Funeral Home Chapel, 54 McFarland Drive, Tryon, NC 28782. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tryon First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1287, Tryon, NC 28782.
