Mill Spring, NC—Kay Meckel Sillis, 80, of Mill Spring, North Carolina passed away on August 13, 2026 at Spartanburg Regional Hospital. Kay was born on August 3, 1946 to her parents Alois John Meckel and Lillian Posten Meckel in Bergen, New Jersey.

Kay was predeceased by both parents; husband, Charles Fletcher Sillis; son, Charles John Sillis; daughter, Dawn Marie Clancy; sister, Carol Johnson and beloved companion, Holly, her dog.

Kay was a loving mother, daughter, sister, and friend, but above all, her greatest joy and most cherished role was being “Nanny” to her grandsons and great grandchildren.

Kay is survived by grandsons, Ryan (Jennifer) Clancy of Mill Spring, North Carolina and Nicholas Clancy of Mayfield, Pennsylvania; four great grandchildren, Grayson, Meya and Jackson Clancy, and Baylee Rutledge; two nieces, Debbi (Bill) Crifasi of Biloxi, Mississippi and Dawn (Jed) Wittek of West Milford, New Jersey; two great nephews, Tyler and Jonathan Crifasi. She also leaves behind many extended family members and cherished friends who were loved as though they were family.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date in Ransey, New Jersey.
