Obituary

KAY LOUIS DOELLINGTryon, NC -- Kay Louis Doelling, 78, of Hunting Country Trails, Tryon, NC died Sunday, April 9, 2006 in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in Spartanburg, SC. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, he was the son of the late Klaus Walter and Elizabeth Frisbie Doelling. He attended Colegio Accassua in Buenos Aires and Sibley School of Engineering at Cornell University. Mr. Doelling graduated from Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, TX and attended Harvard Business School. He was a veteran having served in the US Navy during WW II and the US Army in Korea as an infantry commander. He retired from General Motors, Delco Remy Division in Anderson, IN after 33 years of service. Mr. Doelling came to Tryon in 1987 from Anderson, IN. He was a member of the Congregational Church of Christ in Tryon, NC and was on the Boards of Gillette Woods Association, Tryon Fine Arts Center, and Tryon Dance Guild and was also a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. He was an avid tennis player, woodworker and an automobile enthusiast. Surviving is his wife, Eleanor Henderson Doelling. Three sons, Michael K. Doelling of Cary, NC, Bruce H. Doelling of Denver, CO, and Scott L. Doelling of Prattville, AL. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren. Private memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society, 120 Executive Park, Building 1, Asheville, NC 28801 or to the Congregational Church of Christ, 201 Melrose Avenue, Tryon, NC 28782.
