COLUMBUS, NC - Kate Elaine Dedmondt McBride, 70, of Highwood Apartments, Columbus, NC died Wednesday, December 12, 2007 in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in Spartanburg, SC. Born in Polk County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Caton Dedmondt and Garnet Hutcherson Dye. Mrs. McBride was a retired Seamstress and an avid Atlanta Braves fan and Johnny Cash fan. She was a member of the Tryon Presbyterian Church, Tryon, NC. Surviving are two sons, Caton Fay McBride (Kathy) of Leicester, NC and Dennis McBride (Ruth) of Landrum, SC; one brother, Glenn Dedmondt (Donna) of Missouri; one sister, Terry Schoettlen of Kent State, OH. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, Kristy Garrett, Holley Daniel, Lorinda Wall, Ashlee Elizabeth McBride, Christina Turner, Stephanie Woody and Steven Woody. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Dennis Adam McBride. Memorial services will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 16, 2007 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC with Dr. James C. McPherson officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
