On Wednesday, August 4, 2021, Karen Anne Rodrigues Milazzo, devoted wife, and loving mother of two sons, passed away at the age of 70.Karen was born May 3, 1951, in Portsmouth, Rhode Island to Benjamin and Elsie (Mare) Rodriques. In 1975 She obtained a BS degree in Occupational Therapy from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. Karen began her career as a Registered Occupational Therapist at the University Hospital in Augusta and most-recently worked as an OT at Pro Physical Therapy in Columbus, NC.She married Tom Milazzo in 1983 and together they adopted sons, Nathan and John.Karen's career as an OT was a reflection of how much she loved helping people and that love overflowed into all her relationships.  Karen never forgot a birthday or other important dates and kept in contact with all her relatives in Rhode Island, even while living in South Carolina most of her life.  Karen always put the needs of her family and friends before her own.  She also loved music and played her guitar and sang with the worship team in many of the churches her family attended. Karen was an avid cook, baker and seamstress and created weddings gowns for many young brides. She will be greatly missed by her extended family who enjoyed many lavish holiday meals in her home.Karen was preceded in death by her father, Ben, her mother, Elsie and two sisters, Janet and Mary Jane. She is survived by her husband, Tom and their two sons as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.Visitation by family and friends will be held at the McFarland Funeral Chapel in Tryon, North Carolina on Saturday, August 7,2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.  A graveside service will be held at a future time at Shepherd Memorial Park in Hendersonville, NC.Donations in Karen's honor may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
