SUNNY VIEW, NC - Julia Laura McGuinn Jones, 93 of West McGuinn Rd., (Sunny View Community) Mill Spring, NC, died Monday, June 18, 2007 in Pardee Hospital, Hendersonville, NC. Born in Sunny View, NC, she was the daughter of the late James Mack and Bonnettia Odel McGuinn. She was a member of Big Level Baptist Church and was the widow of Laxton Lynch Jones who died in 1985. Mrs. McGuinn was a Ceramic Instructor at The Meeting Place in Tryon until 2004. Surviving are four daughters: Tressie Steppe (John) of Mill Spring, NC; Margaret Jackson of Marion, NC; Helen McKinney (Jimmy) of Brevard, NC and Phyllis Jackson (Ralph) of Hendersonville, NC. Three sisters, Mollie Jackson Robertson of Bostic, NC, Mildred Lynch Jackson and Maude McGuinn Davis both of Mill Spring, NC. Three brothers, L.V. McGuinn and Charles McGuinn both of Mill Spring, NC and J. D. McGuinn of High Point, NC. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 22, 2007 in Big Level Baptist Church, Sunny View, NC. Burial will be in Cane Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Lake Lure, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service on Friday in Big Level Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Big Level Baptist Church Building Fund, 4940 Big Level Rd., Mill Spring, NC 28756. The family will be at the home of her daughter, Tressie Steppe, 25 Construction Lane, Mill Spring, NC.
