TRYON, NC -- Jo Childers Milner, of Tryon Estates, passed peacefully in her sleep Nov. 5, 2006, surrounded by friends, family and loved ones. She was 86 years young.She was born in Greenville, S.C. and was the daughter of Pauline and Lorenzo Childers. She was married to the late Gene Edward Scott of Greenville and they had one daughter, Shannon.In 1963 she married Ralph Milner and moved to Tryon where she became an active member of the Daffy Jills Garden Club, The Second Wind Hall of Fame and the Church of the Holy Cross. Among her most precious duties at the church were making flower arrangements for the altar and other services. She was a member of the Flower Guild, the Altar Guild, a past president of the Women of the Holy Cross and most importantly to her, she served as "greeter" on Sundays because she loved being friendly. Her cheerfulness and sweet smile will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.Jo leaves behind two daughters, Dr. Judy Milner of Seattle, Wash. and Shannon Scott ElDakhakni of Honolulu, Hawaii; a son-in-law, Ayman and granddaughter Amanda ElDakhakni, a sophomore at the University of PennsylvaniaMemorial services will be held, 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2 at the Church of the Holy Cross in the Memory Garden and a memorial service gathering for friends at Tryon Estates will be held in the afternoon of the same day.In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Hospice of the Carolinas or the Church of the Holy Cross in Tryon."We will miss our friend, our mother and grandmother.
