MILL SPRING, NC - Joseph David "J. D." Pritchard, 71, of Mill Spring, NC died Friday, February 27, 2009 in St. Luke's Hospital in Columbus, NC.Born in Polk County, NC, he was the son of the late Jacob Logan and Nancy Eva Shehan Pritchard. He was a veteran of the US Army and was of the Methodist Faith.Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Shirley Thurston Pritchard. One son, David Pritchard (Lisa) of Mill Spring, NC. Two daughters, Darlene Saunders of Hickory, NC and Diane Wright (Jimmy) of Charlotte, NC. Four grandchildren, Carrie Saunders, Jessica Pritchard, Tori Pritchard and Amy Pritchard. Also surviving is one brother, George Pritchard of N. Augusta, SC and one sister, Kaye Gibbs of Thompsons Station, TN. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2009 in Manus Chapel United Methodist Church in Pea Ridge, NC with Rev. John Edwards officiating.The family will receive friends prior to the graveside service from 1:00 to 2:15 p.m. in the McFarland Funeral Chapel in Tryon, NC.
