Johnnie B. McDowell, 90, of Chesnee went home to be with the Lord, Thursday morning, September 2, 2021, at his home.Born in Landrum, he was the son of the late Howard McDowell and Tecora McDowell. Mr. McDowell worked 50 plus years at McFarland Funeral Chapel. He enjoyed farming, fishing, and hunting. Mr. McDowell was a member of Landrum Springs Baptist Church.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Thomas McDowell who passed away in 2011; one son, Jeffrey Brian McDowell; one daughter, Gladys McDowell.Surviving are five sons: Mr. Johnny B. McDowell, Jr. (Beverly); Mr. Frank McDowell; Mr. Rodney McDowell; Mr. Mark McDowell; and Mr. Thomas McDowell (Wanda); and six daughters: Ms. Terry Beason, Mrs. Sharon Holmes (Elliott); Mrs. Yvonne Rojas (Jorge); Ms. Jennifer Brannon; Mrs. Severia Broadus (David); and Ms. Tiffany McDowell. Also surviving are thirty-five grandchildren, thirty-eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.Mr. McDowell will lie in state Friday, September 3, 2021, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the McFarland Funeral Chapel.A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 4, 2021, in Landrum Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
