John Oscar Searcy, 78, of Coopers Gap Road, Mill Spring, NC died Wednesday, December 3, 2014 in Park Ridge Hospital, Fletcher, NC.Born in Polk County, NC he was the son of the late Thomas Ralph and Easter Laughter Searcy. He was the widower of Alma Burnette Searcy who died in l970. John worked for Stonecutter Mills, Mill Spring, NC 28 years before retiring in 1998.Surviving are: Children Randy Searcy (Dianne) of Columbus, NC; Susie S. Allison (John) of Boiling Springs, SC and Ricky Searcy (Angie) of Columbus, NC; his companion and friend for many years, Nina Searcy of Green Creek, NC and two sisters Betty Jean Morrow of Mill Spring, NC and Annette Sanders (Buddy) of Walnut Cove, NC and 2 brothers Charles Searcy (Evelyn) and Billy Searcy (Darlene) both of Mill Spring, NC. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren Alicia, Kristan, Brandon, Jennifer, Brittany, and Tyler and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Herman, Mack, Don and Gary Searcy and 2 sisters, Elsie Gibbs and Margie Burnette.Graveside services will be held 11:00 am Friday, December 5, 2014 in the Coopers Gap Baptist Church Cemetery, Mill Spring, NC with Rev. Don Hollifield officiating.Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC.Memorials may be made to Coopers Gap Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, Coopers Gap Church Road, Mill Spring, NC 28756.
