John E. Pearson, Jr.Saluda, NC -- John Ellis Pearson, 85, of Saluda, NC died Friday June 30, 2006 in Margaret Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville, NC. Born in Saluda, NC he was the son of the late John Ellis Sr. and Margaret Moore Pearson. Mr. Pearson was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II. He was employed by the North Carolina Department of Revenue for 32 years. Mr. Pearson was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration in Saluda, NC. Surviving are: two sons, John Ellis Pearson III of Hendersonville, NC and Robert Merrell Pearson of Reidsville, NC; one daughter, Caroline Huntley Pearson-Mims and husband Stephen Stancill Mims of Moscow ID; one Brother, Charles Pearson of Tryon, NC; three sisters, Sophie Summers of Saluda, NC, Jessie Short of Columbia, SC and Vera Bishop of Greenville, SC; one grandson, Jonathon Edward Pearson. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Mr. Pearson was preceded in death by sisters; Sara Rodgers, Margaret Sullivan, Alice Parker, Isabel Hill, Elizabeth Henn, and Catherine Rubel. Memorial services will be held Wednesday July 5, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. in the McFarland Funeral Chapel with Rev. Paula Morton officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus, NC. Family to receive friends Wednesday July 5, 2006 prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.
