Columbus, NC- John W. McGuinn, 90, of Skyuka Road, Columbus, NC, died November 6, 2007 in his home.Born in Henderson County, NC, he was the son of the late John and Eula Vassey McGuinn. He was a WWII veteran having served in the Air Force and owner and operator of McGuinn Heating & Air for 60 years. Mr. McGuinn was inducted into the G.E Hall of Fame for his development, growth, and maturity of the G.E. Industry. He was the first to install heat pumps in this area. He was a member of Tryon United Methodist Church and an honorary lifetime member in the church council. Mr. McGuinn was also a member of the Jeff L. Nelson Masonic Lodge # 605 and he received the Oasis Temple Shriner pin for 50 years. He was a member of Tryon Lions Club, American Legion Post 250 and Polk County Gun Club.He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Katie K. Williams; one son, John Anthony McGuinn of Fair Oaks, CA; one sister, Glenna Eargle of Fuquay-Varina, NC. Mr. McGuinn is also survived by five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by a son, Dr. Terry R. McGuinn, two sisters and four brothers.A graveside service will be held Sunday, November11, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus, NC with Dr. Neil Haynes officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, November 10, 2007 from 6:00 until 7:30 P.M. in McFarland Funeral Chapel.Memorials can be made to New Vision Building Fund, Tryon United Methodist Church, P.O.
