TRYON, NC -- John Patrick Flanagan, 82, of Hogback Mountain Rd., Tryon, NC, died Friday, November 14, 2008 at his home.Born in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late John and Georgiania Baker Flanagan and was first married to the late Claire Kinderknicht who died in 1986. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and was the Vice President of Alcoa of South Bend, IN. He moved to Polk County in 1990 coming from South Bend. Mr. Flanagan was a member of the Tryon Country Club and Jackson Grove United Methodist Church, Landrum, SC.Surviving is his wife, Parky Flanagan of the home; A son, Kevin Flanagan (Lisa) of Chicago, IL; two daughters, Mary Kay Flanagan of Neenah, WI and Julie Flanagan of South Bend, IN; a step-daughter, Marcia LaBelle (Jim) of South Bend, IN. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren; Haley, John Patrick, Molly and Timmy Flanagan; Laurie Scott, Brian LaBell, Heather Mitchell and Tami Rachels.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 17, 2008 in the Jackson Grove United Methodist Church, Landrum, SC with Rev. Mike Bowers officiating.Burial will be in the Jackson Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to your favorite charity.
