Obituary
John Richard "Hush" Cummings, 73, of Tryon, NC passed away peacefully on Thursday April 17th, 2025 at his home.
He was born in Spartanburg, SC, and was the son of the late Arthur and Mary Cummings. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Patricia Barry (Patti) Cummings; son, Christopher Barry Cummings (Ellie) of Charlotte, NC; daughter Mary Alice Cummings Pressley (Willy) of Arden, NC; brothers Larry Cummings (Judy), Allen Cummings (Susan); sisters Nancy Humphries and Carol Cummings; brother-in-law John Barry (Susan). He is also survived by grandchildren Miller Cummings, Emery Cummings, Tommy Cummings, and Lucy Pressley.
Hush will be remembered for his lifelong love of friends and family, his passion for coaching, and his bigger-than-life personality. He never met a stranger, and Hush made a profound impact on all those who knew him. Hush's greatest joy in life was being a husband to Patti, dad to Chris and MAC, and Big Daddy to his four adorable grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all.
Memorial services will be held Saturday April 26, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at Tryon Presbyterian Church, 430 Harmon Field Rd, Tryon, NC with Pastor Allan Purtill officiating. The family will receive friends after the service in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials may be made to: A.C. Reynolds High School with the memo reading A.C. Reynolds High School Athletics.
