John Thomas (Tommy) Arledge, husband of Sarah Annie Arledge,went to be with the Lord on Thursday evening, February 14, 2008. Tommy spent thirty years in broadcasting and participated in magician performances for civic organizations and community service over the years. He was a member of the Academy of Magical Hearts and Sciences in Hollywood, California; The International Brotherhood of Magicians (IBM); and the Society of American Magicians (SAM). Tommy was actively involved in mission work in Hawaii from 1983-1995. He retired in 1995 and recently returned to Polk County, where he was born and raised. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Kona, Hawaii, and St. John's Catholic Church in Tryon, NC. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and "Tootsie" Arledge of Tryon, NC, and his son, Eddie. Survivors include his sisters Linda Wilson of Afton, Virginia, Susan Robinson of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and his loving aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephew. Tommy was well loved and respected by all and will be greatly missed. A special thanks is given to Dr. Stephen Corso of Gibbs Cancer Center in Spartanburg, SC for his care and support and all the Hospice nurses, doctors, and chaplains. A memorial service will be held in Tommy's honor at 10:00 a.m., February 21, 2008 at St. John's Catholic Church, Tryon, NC with Father Patrick Winslow officiating.
