Mill Spring, N.C. - Joe Searcy, 62, of Hwy. #9 North, Mill Spring, NC, died Monday, December 24, 2007 in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, Spartanburg, SC. Born in Polk County, NC, he was the son of the late Reginald and Ethel Ruff Searcy. He was retired from the Polk County Landfill where he had been the scale operator for 15 years. He was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are: his wife, Violet Lockhart Searcy; two sons, Jimmy Searcy (Nina) of Mill Spring, NC and Chris Searcy (Linda) of Sunny View; two daughters, Pam Waters (Tank) of Tryon and Dina Searcy of Mill Spring, NC. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Megan Delaney & Colin Joe Searcy. Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday in the Coopers Gap Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Warren Elliott officiating. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday night in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.
