SUNNY VIEW, NC -- Joe Thomas Gilbert, 52, of 350 Lynch Rd., Mill Spring, NC died Wednesday, February 7, 2007.Born in Rutherford County, NC, he was the son of Shirley Johnson Gilbert of Sunny View, NC, and the late Harold Gilbert. He graduated from Polk Central High School in 1973 and had worked for Duke Energy for 31 years. Mr. Gilbert was a past volunteer with Sunny View Fire Department and was a member of Coopers Gap Baptist Church.Surviving in addition to his mother is his wife, Susan Hardin Gilbert of the home. One daughter, Michelle Gilbert McCraw of Sunny View, NC. One sister, Sue Hooper of Stony Point, NC. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2007 in Coopers Gap Baptist Church in Sunny View, NC with Rev. Warren Elliott officiating.Burial will be in Coopers Gap Baptist Church Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service on Saturday in Coopers Gap Baptist Church.Memorials may be made to the Brook Waddle Medical Fund, C/O Tryon Federal Bank, P.
