Obituary

Norman FosterColumbus, NC - Joe Norman Foster, 83, of Blanton St., Columbus, NC died Thursday June 29, 2006 in St. Luke's Hospital Columbus, NC. Born in Polk County he was the son of the late Joe Henry and Pearl Hudson Foster. Mr. Foster served in the United States Army during World War II and was a prisoner of war in Germany. He was a self employed contractor and a member of Pacolet Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and had served on many committees. Surviving include; his wife Ruth T. Foster of the home, a son;ChrisFoster of Spartanburg, SC, 2 Daughters; Darlene Shehan and Glenda Smith both of Landrum, SC.2 brothers; Brad Foster of Columbus and Robert Foster of Wilmington, NC 4 sisters; Annie Bridgeman of Columbus, Angie McAbee, Genelle Campbell, and Freida Plumley all of Landrum, SC. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren and 5 great- grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2006 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC with Rev. Bruce Norville officiating. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus, NC. with military rites by the Polk County Burial Squad. The Family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. just prior to the service in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC. Memorials may be made to Pacolet Baptist Church Building Fund, Skyuka Road, Lynn, NC 28750 or to the Charity of your choice.
