Green Creek, N.C. - Jimmy Dean Conner, 50, of Hwy. 9, Tryon, NC, (Green Creek Community,) died Wednesday, December 13, 2006 in St. Luke's Hospital, Columbus, NC. Born in Rutherford County, NC, he was the son of the late Jimmy Dean, Sr. and Mary Sue Hutchins Conner. Mr. Conner was retired from the Polk & Rutherford County EMS after 23 years of service. He had been employed by Movemart Trucking for the past year and half. He was retired member of the Green Hill Fire Department and attended Melvin Hill Church of the Brethren. Surviving are: his wife, Jean Higgins Conner; two daughters, Angela Conner of Asheville, NC and Courtney Conner of Forest City, NC; a stepson, Keith Hill of Taylors, SC; a step daughter, Carla Hilderbrand of Gastonia, NC; two brothers, Scott Conner of Columbia, SC and Terry Conner of NJ. Also surviving is a grandson, Broady Conner. Graveside memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. in the Melvin Hill Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Green Creek, NC, on Saturday, December 16, 2006 with Rev. Earl Byers officiating.
